Medallion of John Henry Newman

Theologian, academic, writer and historian, and Vicar of St Mary's from 1828 to 1843. He was one of the founders of the "Oxford Movement" which sought to restore the Catholic tradition within the Church of England, converted to Catholicism in 1845, became a cardinal in 1879, and was canonised in 2019.
