Peace 3

My original idea was to use a broken arrow and a peace pipe to symbolize peace for this weeks theme. Then I decided to add an empty revolver to symbolize that peace takes all sides to be peace. But why the business card and what happened to the arrow and gun?

Here's the story. My wife and I went to the grocery early on Sunday afternoon to pick up a few things. The weather was bad so I let her out near the door and parked my truck at the end of the lot away from other vehicles and the stray carts being blown about by the strong winds. The store was crowded and my pace was brisk as I entered the store. I could see my wife standing just inside waiting for me and I maintained my pace going to her. There was an elderly man there. Probably in his mid 80"s or beyond and he was alone and pushing his cart toward her narrowing my path. We're not allot younger than him and like most other men I'm protective of my wife and my property. I don't think age changes those things and I'm sure of it in my case. I don't like being crowded either and my thoughts weren't peaceful at all.. We reached my wife about the same time. I looked directly at him ready to say something. He was smiling and handed me the card in the photo. It was simple business card with a saying on the front and a prayer on the back. I thanked him, put the card in my pocket and we went about our business. When we finished our shopping he was still near the entrance and check out lanes and was still handing out his cards and talking to anyone that would talk to him. At that time it occurred to me there is an inner peace for some and perhaps where all peace starts. and it should be represented.

The pipe in the photo is a peace pipe. It's in the photo to represent peace among people even though history has proved that those are only temporary. The broken arrow and revolver just cluttered the shot and were omitted. The card is there to represent inner peace. After all that's where all peace starts regardless if it comes from faith, solitude, or something else and perhaps it's the only real and lasting peace.
