Varios to Enviros
Towns serviced exclusively by independent bus operators are in the minority but Corsham is one, local family firm Faresaver having weathered the challenges over the year, not least seeing off various challenges by First on the core Chippenham to Bath trunk routes. The 231 is now the core bus route for Faresaver on this corridor with the X31 providing a limited stop rapid week day service.
When I first moved to the area in 2005 Faresaver lived up to the name with an eclectic mix of various mid to end of life Mercedes mini buses in different variants of pastel pink designs on a white base colour. Over recent years and the move towards low floor the fleet has improved as a stream of Solos, Enviro 200s were traded and upgraded and 2nd hand ex London and Bournemouth Double deckes introduced after the First group retrenchment to Bath. In recent years some new Enviro 200s joined alongside a number of other new full size single decker but this month saw the first purchases of 2 brand new double deckers in the form of 2 Enviro 400s (which being Scarborough built should be better put together), with another 2 due to follow in Autumn 2025. YY25JAU leaves Corsham on its first week in service.
