Ghosts? – Maddington Western Australia
No not really. This is a photo of the railway crossing on Albany Highway Maddington. There seems to be nothing unusual about this photo, however, look in the middle of the photo to the right and you can see 5 points of lights and a faint outline of something. For me this is a nuisance Lens Flare, reflection or dust on the lens. I took the photo again a couple of minutes later and the lights had moved significantly to the left, still in the same related position to each other. Photos before and after did not show these pin pricks lights.
If ever a place was to be haunted, it is this Railway Crossing. From 1920 to 1947, fourteen people died at this crossing, plus numerous horses and other animals. The last person to die was in a car with licence plate SW117. It was hit by train number 117. The railway line is known as the SW railway line. A deadly coincidence.
I have taken many photos day and night on different cameras. Quite often I get what I call lens flare or reflections. These are what look like white ball of lights appearing over subjects head or next to them, unusual lights appearing in places where there should be none, ghostly outlines of things etc. Using a digital camera, I just delete these and take another photo. Sometimes more than a couple of times until these anomalies disappear. I don’t believe in Ghosts and for me these are just some sort of natural occurrence or technical hitch with the camera.
Most of these unusual happenings occur in a small area of Maddington. The original settled area. This area have seen executions, murders, suicides, unusual deaths, tragic deaths and of course the railway crossing. The execution, by hanging, took plus a couple of hundred metres from the crossing. The person was hang for spearing to death a young boy in 1840, also only a couple of hundred metres from this crossing. To the right of the boom gate on this crossing, is an old house built circa 1920. In this house, a young woman was brutally murdered. When I entered the room where she was murdered a shiver went up my spine.
A couple of hundred metres behind the camera is another house built in 1928. Four people have died in this house. The last was sitting dead in a chair on the back verandah for 2 weeks before the body was discovered.
Finally, a few hundred metres along the creek is an isolated grave. It’s tombstone is said to be incorporated in the bridge over the creek, which is just out of the camera view, thus plenty of places for “Ghosts” to come from.
There is a person I know that believe in Ghosts and reckon her house is haunted. I dare not say what happened near her home, she easily spook as it is. As for me. My family have lived on the same property for 100 years. Many unusual events have been witness. The family has always been sceptics and logical explanations is always sought and been found in most cases.
