KK70b Guildford
650 GBU crossing the railway station road bridge in Guildford the week before the Falklands War erupted on April 2nd 1982. I am pleased with the photo as it was already a blast from the past. It is an AEC Reliance with Plaxton Panorama body of the early 1960s. The owner was Tappins who then and today remain a high class coach operator. The blind says "On hire to Associated Motorways". That was an anachronism then. Either the vehicle was already cherished and in preservation or perhaps it was on a National Express duty? See www.tappins.co.uk/about.html and www.flickr.com/photos/quicksilver_coaches/31788930357/ .
