Craig
I know this image probably looks posed, but it wasn’t. Craig was a workman helping to dismantle the tents etc. after the Manchester Jazz Festival in Albert Square. When I decided to take the picture Craig was looking straight ahead and taking a drink of water from the jug, as I pressed the shutter he turned his head to look straight at me; too late, the image was taken. He gave me a thumbs up and then came over to see what I had shot and asked what I was going to do with the image; I told him I would probably put in on Flickr, he smiled and then left. A little while later I caught up with him and asked if he would like a copy; he said "that would be great". I took his email address and sent a copy to him; he replied and was thankful for me doing so. This was the only shot I got of him. The image was shot through a wire mesh fence.
In all the candid pictures I have taken he is the first person ever to approach me and ask to see what I had taken; good for him, people often look and glare at me but never say anything. If people did object, obviously I would delete the image in front of them….!
