Lycopodium obscurum
Sometimes called "ground-pine," tree clubmoss, Lycopodium obscurum (Lycopodiaceae) is a seedless vascular plant that superficialy resembles a miniature conifer. The elongate "clubs" are tightly spiralled spore bearking leaves. The spores were used as photographic flash powder during the early days of photography. This specimen was photographed October 20, 2007 in Summit County, Ohio, USA.
