Fossil Plate
For this plate form I threw clay onto the slab roller canvas in bits leaving gaps, then rolled it between the canvas to join all the bits together...I imprinted a gum leaf twiggy branch into it after that. Once bisque fired I coated the piece in a wash of copper oxide, then splashed clear glaze over parts of it to give it a more fossil/opalized look. It was fired in an electric kiln to earthenware temp.
