This shot captures everything about Cold Shoulder shots. A girl sitting by herself looking into the flames and a solitary wine glass. Lost for a moment in reflection and thought, the way her shoulder is hunched suggests she is hugging herself and just adds to the feeling of withdrawn isolation. If I saw someone like this I would want to make sure they were Ok, maybe offer them a hug and some company.

I have watched this girls photos develop through the time I have been on Flickr and this one just seemed to be a large leap forward in her work. Such a good idea and well executed to boot. How often have we all crossed our fingers behind our backs in silent and personal feeling. Wishing for an outcome that will give us hope!

Ok, I have Dreadlocks they have amazing Dreadlocks, I am biased admittedly. However I think this shot is so great. It really captures the feeling of them sitting there playing their instruments. Just because they have Dreads most people have ideas already about who they are and what they are possibly like. A kind of visual story of who a person might be just through what you can see from this angle. Also it is such a good photo, the focus on the girls shoulder and Dreads and the vignetting all draws you in.

Climbing is one of my passions! To me it is a form of moving meditation, clearing my mind and focusing my thoughts. All my worries (not that I usually have many) fade away and there is just me and the rock. Problems (bouldering routes or moves) are a a challenge that with practice and patience can be overcome and lead to progression and a very rewarding feeling.
Without seeing the girl's (Krista - I don't know her so I feel wrong addressing her as if I do) face I can imagine what she looks like. Focused and relaxed at the same time, no tension just natural. The photo itself is gorgeous, it feels very dynamic and poised for a still image. I can almost feel the move that she will make next; feel the rock through the fingers of her right hand, and the tension in the arm muscles as she cranks the hold, the torque of her body as her left foot pushes her upwards, the counterbalance as she makes her body move the way it must to overcome inertia and lead her to the next hold. Climbing flows like water, sinuous and free, overcoming obstacles by merging with them to feel the pattern.
That's what I see when I look at this photo and the way that makes me feel is why I chose it!
