Back to work today and with 88008 booked on the lunchtime Doncaster to Millerhill service a trip across to Doncaster at lunchtime was on the cards to chip away at the new DRS locos. This service makes accessing these locos easier than tripping up to Carlisle on the off chance of a cop. Anyway a meeting near the station finished at 12:30 so the 12:52 to Newcastle was on.
A surprise of an STP comprising a modified 66542, load 5 (3 KEAs, 1 Freightliner ex coal wagon and 1 JGA) sat on platform 8 was a quick diversion with the bonus of a 156 of a Liverpool to Norwich service. Any advice on the front end modifications would be welcomed.
The smash and grab raid to Doncaster was completed with 88008 being sat at Doncaster West yard meaning a quick trip back to Sheffield was on the cards made quicker by a late running Brindlington to Sheffield service meaning I was back in Sheffield within the hour.
Locos observed on the quick jaunt, classes :-
08, 37(025 on TT), 43, 56, 60, 66, 70(816), 88 and 91. Not bad in todays modern railway.
