Phillips Memorial
One of the world's largest memorials associated with the sinking of the Titanic is to be found next to Godalming Parish Church and is known as the Phillips Memorial Cloister.
It was built to commemorate the bravery of Jack Phillips, Radio Officer of the Titanic, who remained at his post, sending a distress signal. He perished on that dreadful night.
Jack grew up in Godalming and sang in the choir of St John's, Farncombe.
