a place to begin

there is much chaos in a hurricane.

senses, probability,

force majeur

and things we just don't know.

the preparations are arduous and feel heroic

but easier.

one can make lists and order supplies,

systematically laying in the allays to inconvenience..

afterwards, the cleanup is arduous and heroic, but

nothing can prepare you for the disheveled disorder of the tender things.

unless you are built for hurricanes,

or if your finest attunements have been inactive for some time.

i never thought i was built for hurricanes.

but

i felt the tree hit; we dragged furniture, wrung towels and bailed water to save the floor in shifts for about 12 hours.

i'm certain i personally carried more than two entire trees, in pieces, to the street. and so much more we both did, for days to come.

but it wasn't until i swept my dear, tiny porch and put my tender space there in order that

i let tears go..
