Cucumber Spiders nest

A cucumber spider at its nest... or however it should be interpreted. The little spider has woven together a leaf in my lilac hedge and through it created a little home. Below the spider hidden in the tangle are what I understand to be its spider children that she (?) actively and tenderly protects. A diligent little rascal I must say... 😄
