Goldfinches

I've had a fab birding day today! It started off with loads of different little garden birds visiting our feeders this morning after I'd put some food out (I'd not fed them for a couple of days). 2 goldfinches came and fed and we had a jay in one of the trees. We also had Squidge (our daily squirrel visitor) who was being eyed up by a new frequent feline visitor to our garden.

I decided to nip to Endcliffe Park as I'd heard sightings of a kingfisher - which I managed to see and photograph (hurrah!),. Whilst there, I saw 2 pairs of jays and managed to capture a black headed gull with it's lunch!

Whilst on my way back (frozen and starving by this point), I was just driving up our road when I noticed a load of birds feeding on the ground on the small patch of green about 6 houses down from ours. I pulled up and a lot flew up into the trees but some remained and I managed to get some shots - redwings and mistle thrush. What a great morning I had!

Unfortunately due to the light levels most of my shooting was done at ISO 1600 so the shots are a bit noisy. Oh well, fingers crossed for a replay of the morning but with a sunny day ;-)
