In terms of audience segmentation, production studios like Paramount Pictures have started producing Blockbuster hits as well as "films for more narrowly focused audiences" (200, Media Now). Many blockbuster movies hit the big screen, but more B listed movies are going straight to DVD, where avid fans are waiting for them. Audience segmentation is relatively new in the movie industry, but has been hugely successful in getting more topics out there to more audiences.
