Boldt Castle on Heart Island
George Boldt, manager of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel invested 2.5 million dollars in building 120 room the castle on an island for a Valentine's Day gift for his wife Louise in 1900. When the completed project was near, suddenly George's lovely wife died in 1904. He suffered from intense grief immediately abandon and end the construction and never returned to the island with an unfinished structure of the castle. For 73 years, Boldt Castle fell silent into ruin and had been left unsupervised to the harsh weather and trespassers, graffiti all over the walls, any value were stolen by thieves. Restoration of the castle was being undertaken by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority in 1977. Today, restoration remains a tragic love of story will never end for George and Louise.
