Borough of Newport Transport 103

Newport has been a keen user of Scania buses since the 1970's. The love affair with Scania started back in 1972 when 42 Metro Scania BR111MH single deckers were delivered as the final phase of converting the fleet to one man operation.

The undertaking had the largest fleet of the type in the country, to which a further 5 ex London Transport (MS1, MS3-6) examples were added in October 1978.

The photo shows one of the ex London examples, no.103 which was previously MS3. The London buses differed from the Newport ones in having improved rustproofing and soundproofing, they also had CO2 engines and different brake and exhast systems.
