2002 Nike Jumpman J'Madness
The Jordan Jumpman J'Madness is an interesting shoe. It incorporates several design elements from the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XVII, but brings its own unique look along with a lower price tag. And while at $115 I wouldn't call the Jumpman J'Madness a value buy, it is a good example of technologies and research conducted for Nike's top-end shoes trickling down to more accessible products.
What struck me first about the Jumpman J'Madness was its look. It's a very simple shoe with almost no ornamentation from the midfoot on forwards. The one element that makes the shoe stand out visually is the heel, which is covered in a solid block of synthetic suede . And even there the only ornamentation is in the form of subtle grooves and a silver Jumpman logo on the lateral side of the shoe. I found the simplicity of the shoe's design refreshing, particularly when compared to recent Jordan Jumpman releases like the Jumpman Pro Shake and Jumpman Team Elite.
