Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Yay, finally got my mini-obs, AKA the GOAT, operating fairly well and it is very well insulated and protected by a heavy cooler room insulating wall component for a roof. A well built small pier, above a good slab of concrete, with 3 old star pickets rammed into the earth for good measure, before the pour. Used an old IBC tank with wool insulation and recycled steel cladding.
Damn its so much easier to image without setting up every night! I got excellent polar alignment with the tiny SW Star Adventurer GTi, and havent realigned for days. I need to have it easy to start, as I'm often tired from the other day's activities and can't be stuffed lugging equipment out. So this is a perfect solution.
So this is my first test, fun image from the obs, using the Rokinon 135mm lens and tiny QHY715C planetary cam with 1.4micron pixels. NGC2070, Tarantula region of the LMC, from Northern Victoria, Australia.
5 hrs of subs in total, all 60 seconds, at gain 10, unguided. Darks used but no bias. Processed in PI and Lightroom
