Varanasi - Jain Ghat
Jain Ghat: Before 1931 AD, the Jain Ghat of Varanasi was a part of Vaccharaja Ghat. Later Jain community made a 'pucca' (concrete) ghat and named it as Jain Ghat. Hence, Jain Ghat can be termed as affiliated ghat with Vaccharaja Ghat. The Jain Ghat holds special importance for the Jain community of India and Varanasi in particular. 7th Jain Tirthankara Suparshvanatha of Shvetambara sect was believed to be born in the neighbourhood of Vaccharaja Ghat and a temple commemorating the Thirthankara was also there. Babu Shekhar Chanda made it 'pucca' in 1931.
