Four young blacksmiths show us their horseshoe making abilities. The message seems to be that bread is lacking there if I am reading it correctly.The photographer is in Konigsbruck which had a large training camp there. They may be hungry and this trade was destined to become obsolete in their lifetimes, but it might have kept them from being casualties as you cannot afford to lose blacksmiths in an army that moves supplies and artillery by horses and mules.
