The First of July Protest in Hong Kong.
The organizer announced that more than 430,000 citizens saying NO to the local government. However, the police said there were 33,000 people leaving the Victoria Park at the peak hour.
The protest aims at fighting for universal suffrage and democracy in the city which has long been stated in the Basic Law, equivalent to the nation's Constitution. But the Beijing Government intended to delay the progress, and finally schedule the alleged "just and fair" and with low or even no barrier Chief Executive (equivalent to HK governor in the colonial era before 1997) election in 2017.
The participants also urge the current CE, Mr. CY Leung to step down due to his incompetence and misconduct as well as his invisible back-up from the Communist Party of China.
