Waterloo Boy.

Great Dorset Steam Fair 2019 - Vintage Tractors.

A wonderful looking John Deere from 1919.

These were the first tractors built by John Deere after they bought the 'Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company'. Based in Waterloo Iowa it was formed by inventor John Froelich. In 1892 he developed the first stable gasoline/petrol-powered tractor with forward and reverse gears. He enjoyed success and the pictured 'N' type introduced in 1919 was very successful.

In 1918 Deere & Company, took over 'Waterloo Boy' tractors.
