Blue Period
© All rights reserved. A low-res, flatbed scan of a 6x7 (2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inch) transparency
This image taken at the onset of the blue hour, is dedicated to one of my favorite singers and rock band frontmen: Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens, who passed last month, way too soon. Those guys simply exuded rock n roll. There is a rare duet of "Blue Period" on youtube with Belinda Carlisle.
As for the shot: This comes from one of several shoots at a beach I've frequented over the years. That'd be Salmon Creek Beach, of course, here in Sonoma County, California. At the time of this image, I was really trying to see the blue of the sky and twilight as equal to the warmer colors many of us obsess on. It wasn't easy, but I know, in a vacuum, it is true.
In any case, here you can see the old, 50's/60's era trawler for what it was---a classic fishing bout run aground. This was one of those shots I appreciated more after getting it in to photoshop. I hope you like it, too. Thanks for having a look!
