William Smith O'Brien Cottage, Darlington, Maria Island.

Famous Irish leader of the Young Ireland movement in 1848 William Smith O'Brien after his failed rebellion was sent to Van Diemen's Land in 1849. He stayed a few months from November 1849 to August 1850 living in these complex. His cottage is the one with the sign outside before being transferred to Port Arthur after a failed escape attempt in August 1850.

Now an UNESCO World Heritage site (Convicts)
