Puppenbrunnen fountain. All the figures have movable joints.

 

The Puppenbrunnen stands in Aachen , North Rhine-Westphalia , on the Krämerstraße, the connection between the cathedral and town hall. It was created in 1975 by the Aachen sculptor Boniface Stirnberg.

 

The fountain represents Miscellaneous represent what makes Aachen, namely:-

 

Horse and rider - Riding show.

Marktfrau - Trading.

Prelate - Church.

Fashion dolls - Textile industry.

Professor and Harlequin - Teaching and culture.

Carnival Masks - Carnival.

 

About the figures enthroned is the cock, to commemorate the French occupation.

Aachen, Krämerstrasse, dolls fountain by Bonifatius Stirnberg - Dolls' Fountain

The fountain, a creation by Bonifatius Stirnberg, appeals to the play instinct of young and old visitors. It has stood at the foot of Krämerstrasse in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral since 1975. His figures are movable and represent market women, harlequin, professor, canon, mannequin horse and rooster. All figures are important for Aachen.
