all will have trouble
point where it hurts.
Even the smallest of trains have trouble with Rutledge Hill in the right (wrong) conditions. This 20mm view gives you somewhat of an idea how much snow and ice cakes up in the cavernous chute down towards the BN diamond and former Milwaukee Road yard in Ottumwa. This short 181 succumbed to the hill a lil ways back there in the curve to my south. A newly on duty 260 was able to help by unhooking their DU and using it to push 181 up the hill. 181’s crew noted that someone in Kansas City did make a note about each locomotive - the leader struggled to maintain a proper load, and the trailer needed water.
Operational growing pains for the newly married territories. They’ll figure it out one day.
