Certified_Organic_5Changes
Signs such as this certified organic one are littered all over grocery stores everywhere in America. The thing is, most people don’t even know what that means and we don’t know what it takes for an item to be “certified organic.” USDA regulations aren’t as stiff as they should be, so a lot of times these words don’t carry as much meaning as it would seem. The USDA is a government agency and the government benefits financially from the system the way it is right now. Also, a lot of the high ranking officials in a position to make changes to the system are former President/CEO's of these same companies. This picture shows the bleak picture the meaning "certified organic" and all of the other writing isn't readable because these words carry very little weight.
(I cropped this photo, then I skewed the USDA signs, I solarized it to give it that bleak, dark feel, then I used the trace contour, I used the plaster sketch filter and stretched the middle to show that those words mean very little)
