Vulnerable and Endangered

One last shot of the orangutans that are receiving help in order to survive. Young orangutans will suckle up to eight years of age so if they lose there mothers they need a great deal of help from humans.

There is a big effort going on in Indonesia involving many organizations to save the rain forest for these little ones. Many have international recognition and use social media outlets to further the cause.

Camp Leakey is such a great place to visit. You can walk among the orangutans, see how they are being cared for and see how their caretakers help them return to the wild. There are also adult orangutans swinging from the trees and finding bananas to eat that the staff thought they had hidden. They are so much fun to watch.
