Around South America (15)

(Continuation of Story)

After quietly enjoying Rio, our little ship continued north along the coast of Brazil until we reached Salvador, Bahia. It was love at first sight for me. I knew little about the city when we arrived, but immediately, I was curious and went exploring.

This look out on to the Atlantic Ocean reminded me of Cascais Portugal, a city I once called home. Salvador, Bahia is the largest city in the northeast of Brazil it was founded in 1549 by the Portuguese. Unfortunately, it was used as a slave port during its early history. Now that unpleasant beginning has given way to a culture rich in African influence and has created a pulsating musical and food paradise.
