Welcome to 2016! Some how the new year doesn't seem complete unless I take another look at the great orangutans of Taman Park in Indonesia. I took many shots of these wonderful creatures when I was there six years ago.
I keep finding a few that you haven't seen yet. They seem to embody the end result of all of the excesses of the holidays. On the flip side, the park is protecting the creatures from the excesses of humans who are completely destroying their habitats in the name of greed. Don't buy palm oil!!!
I am sorry to say that you haven't seen as much of me on Flickr in the past several months. Greed is not confined only to the rain forests of Indonesia. It is a world wide epidemic and is perhaps the one most important thing that is destroying America.
We have an Presidential election happening this year! Already some candidates have insulted the rest of the world more than most of us can believe. They don't speak for the majority of Americans and we are embarrassed.
Americans are engaged in a huge battle to keep America government responsive to the needs of all Americans; not corporations or the insanely wealthy businessmen. It is a pivotal point in our history, I believe, and so i have joined the fight for our democracy on social media. It is a fight against all odds. It is a fight against corruption at all levels including our media. Hopefully the compassionate and caring people of the United States will prevail.
