A Grand Old Hotel
I am so fond of old hotels and chose to stay in them when I travel if they are reasonable in price. The Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe has been beautifully restored through out the years and stands as a great reminder of how grand it was to travel more than 100 years ago.
Victoria Falls is very close by and the spray from the Falls blends in with the landscape of the hotel! The hotel for me was a destination not just a hotel.
Stuffed wildlife heads ( I hate hunting) adorn some of the hall ways and old pictures of the hotel and guests are also part of the decor. In the garden is an old sign with an arrow pointing to Cairo and another one pointing to Cape Town. Going to Africa a hundred years ago was a huge journey.
