The Baobab Tree
The tree of African legends and pride is called the baobab tree. It's massive trunk stores huge amounts of water. Sometimes called the upside down tree, it's branches look like roots. The tree produces wonderful fruit that are known to be packed full of nutrients.
Africans cherish the tree as legends say that it is a symbol of strength, wisdom and long life. It is a sacred link to their glorious past.
I have been in Africa quite a few times and this is the only time I have seen this tree close up. I heard of its fame and was thrilled to have a few moments to admire it.
