"I Think We're Special"

Yes, they are. They are wattled cranes and they are one of the most endangered of African birds. I felt very lucky on my last day on safari in the Okavango Delta. I saw birds and animals that are considered very rare sightings.

 

These birds rely upon a flooded plains of a river basin and Botswana has been experiencing a drought. Agriculture is also encroaching on their habitats.

 

Tomorrow we will move on to Chobe Park and the Chobe River. The area is just a little north of the Delta and brimming over with wildlife.
