Franz Jäger Waggon

I built something!

And I can’t remember when was the last time it took me so long to put together a box.

After I built that Traktor 57 from Olsenbanden på Sporet, I figured I want the Franz Jäger train car to go with it. The movie prop was a DSB litra Gklm (whatever that means) with some plywood cladding to make it look like armored.

I spent one weekend thinking about how to divide the walls into equal squares that would be sunk in half a plate, and framed by a plate from each side, then I built the first version, spent the following 4 evenings on shortening that thing 2 modules each, and two days ago I got rid of yet another module. The proportions are still so-so, but in the cartoon world of LEGO I think they pass.

There are still two areas (the roof and front walls) that I’m bothered with, but I simply ran out of patience trying to find another solutions.

It’s a full on fan build, seven wide, full of upside down connections, complex modules that are very delicate, brick heavy solutions for seemingly simple problems, flextube cutting brick bending and chopping the Technic Land Rover sticker into 0,3mm thin stripes to frame each little square in olive green pinstripes.

And I thought I will be able to stuff it with power functions... Luckily in the movie they pull another train car that should be easy enough to build and motorize with a 9V train engine...
