Lead Me to the Cross
I posted this yesterday but since I'm not uploading anything today I thought I'd add it to the cliche Saturday group. You could say crosses are cliche, it seems they are everywhere and in every style possible but for me it's the old rugged cross and the man who gave His life upon it that captures my heart and soul.
Today we went to Church for Good Friday, our Pastor read from Matthew 26:36-46. Jesus knows of his coming crucifixion and death and He goes to Gethsemane to pray to His Father. He prays saying “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Three times He prays this to the Father in agony and sorrow. Yet the hour had come and his betrayer came and Jesus was led away to be tried and crucified. I was reminded and humbled again today of the great price my Saviour paid for my ransom. He took my sin upon Himself, Him who was sinless, that I might be set free and I will forever be thankful. We sang the song “Lead Me to the Cross” and I’d like to share the lyrics with you.
Saviour I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemptions hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost
Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross
You were as I
Tempted and trialed
You are
The word became flesh
Bore my sin and death
Now you're risen
To your heart
To your heart
Lead me to your heart
Lead me to your heart
