287/365 Hiding and Procrastination…

Sometimes in life I can feel like hiding, running from all responsibility. And yet I know I have to come into the light and do what I’m responsible for regardless of how I feel about it. Yes, at times I’m a procrastinator, well maybe lots of times, my husband would say that anyway :) He’s a list person and needs to work down that list. Where as me I’m kind of all over the place, do a little here, do a little there… and I can keep putting things off until the very end. You know kind of like living in denial, just ignoring something until it pretty much bites you in the face and you can’t hide from it any longer, you can’t put it off any longer. I think I need to change and grow in this area.

“Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.” ~William James

“Procrastination is the bad habit of putting of until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday.” ~ Napoleon Hill

My husband would love the above quote :) Often times he says to me, don’t put off to tomorrow what can be done today, just get it done and get it out of the way.

It’s funny the other day I was out skating with my mom and daughter and I was shovelling the snow. Instead of shovelling in straight lines I was all over that patch of ice, diagonals and criss-crosses. I didn’t do the straight lines until I had most of that snow shovelled off and was just doing the final cleanup. Later in the week I was thinking about how my life kind of reflects my shovelling style, I said to my husband, “how do you think I shovelled that snow off the ice the other day?” He said, “probably all over the place”…I smiled…he knows me.
