D_Potsdam_Belvedere_2
Pomona Temple by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, ca. 1800
The Belvedere viewpoint and reservoir (1847-1863), on the Pfingstberg hill, crowns the grand ensemble of gardens in Potsdam while providing the water pressure for several of their water features.
While only part of the original designs for remodeling the hill into terraces and cascades where ever realized, it still features a romantic setting and a small folly alleged to be the first building by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
Architects: Ludwig Persius, Friedrich August Stüler, Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse, gardens by Peter Joseph Lenné
