Resource Specialist
Being a substitute teacher is like starting a new job, every day. I’m at different schools, with different grades, in different subjects. Sometimes, I’m not even in a traditional classroom. A few weeks ago, I was a “roving teacher” and today I was a “resource specialist.” I’ll be honest, I accepted the job thinking this was a librarian. I was stoked to spend the day with hundreds of books. After accepting, I thought to Google the term and discovered that it is a teacher in special education. I was okay with that, too. I was looking forward to working with individual and small groups of students for the day. When I got to the elementary school, I found out that the job was filling in for the Physical Education/Computers teacher. Thank goodness there was no P.E. in the day’s schedule because I certainly wasn’t dressed appropriately. Every day is full of surprises as a substitute teacher!
Dress, Gap. Shirt, Forever 21. Belt, Hadley Pollet (consignment). Booties, Vionic.
