Bomber Replacement
Close enough
Is this pleather bomber exactly like my old one? No. It’s missing the puffed sleeves but has a superior collar. I’m satisfied with the replacement.
Once upon a time, in December 2011, I had an epic thrifting day with Reva of Rags 2 Roses. We hit the Cheviot Goodwill and my style changed forever. She convinced me to buy both a pair of ankle boots and denim shorts. I was sure that ankle boots made my legs look stumpy and that I was too old for short shorts with leggings. She gave me the encouragement to try and now both styles are a staple in my #ootd. I didn’t need much encouragement to also purchase a pleather bomber from H&M, but that also became a frequent element in my outfits. I’m wearing all three of those pictures in this outfit post.
I wore both the faux leather boots and jacket until the PVC coating cracked and flaked off. I replaced the boots with a leather pair from Vionic and the jacket with a leather motorcycle style from BCBG Max Azria. While the boots satisfied, I missed the easy bomber shape of my old jacket.
The thrift gods were with me, again, six years later, because I found a “new” pleather bomber for $8 at the Salvation Army. I intend to wear this one until the plastic, once again, cracks and flakes away.
Jacket, C Magic (thrifted). Dress, Old Navy (thrifted). Leggings, Mono B. Boots, Vionic. Earrings, Francesca’s.
