The Iconic Cadillac Heron Mascot
On a 1930 V-16 Cadillac. The massive V-16 (2 V-8s end to end) appeared in Jan. of 1930, just as the Great Depression was accelerating. The initial Heron looked a bit too much like their big rival Packard's Cormorant Mascot, so it was phased out in the mid 1930s.
The cormorant was featured on the Packard Family Crest, so there was plenty of corporate pressure to continue to feature it, so Cadillac dropped it's very elegant Heron and featured only versions of the flying Goddess. A sad loss IMHO
The next door blue car, as well as the intense green of the grass make for dramatic reflections in the wings! Ideally you have a black car on one side to provide a dark neutral background, and multiple colored cars on the other to provide wonderful reflections.
AS ALWAYS....COMMENTS & INVITATIONS with AWARD BANNERS will be respectfully DELETED!
