Sansevieria sp. in farmers' field

This farmer in Machaze district decided to leave the Sansevieria plants in her field instead of removing them. Rhizomes and leaves are used to prevent and treat several chicken diseases. Note the extremely tall inflorescences (in fruit phase), unlike the much smaller ones of S. hyacinthoides. Local name: "Tchikwenga"
