MILW-inspired Geep to Branson

This afternoon, I set out to photograph an interesting move. The BNSF 6578 was leading the J-ABIAUM1 30A, a Hi-Wide Special that's traveling from the Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad in Kansas to the Branson Scenic Railway in Missouri.

After getting skunked by this move up north at Rosedale (a truly greedy, self-inflicted wound, btw), I retreated, and caught the move near Frisco Lake Park in Olathe. This is where the connector track to the ex-ATSF Emporia Sub meets up with the ex-SLSF Ft. Scott Sub. Interestingly, this train had been through Olathe on the "other" line just a few hours earlier, before heading south.

Branson ended up in a bit of a power predicament recently, and found this former IC Paducah Geep to be available on short notice. This unit was running as the HRMX 9120, and it had most recently been out on the Mt. Rainier Scenic in Washington, where it acquired this MILW-inspired paint. Prior to that, it was under the employ of the US Army, and obviously, the Illinois Central.
