Welcome back, Mr. Lincoln

Just about a mile from where he gave a speech on December 2, 1859, Union Pacific's newly-christened President Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Locomotive rolls past the former Santa Fe freight house in Atchison, KS.

Lincoln visited the state ( tinyurl.com/3xyz9cfh ) as part of his 1860 Presidential campaign in efforts gain support in the newly formed Kansas Territory. Interestingly, as old as the limestone freight house on the right is, it wasn't built for 21 years after Lincoln's visit, having been completed in 1880.
