BNSF Frankengeep
One of the strangest experiments I've ever had the pleasure of photographing was the BNSF 170.
This unit was built as Santa Fe's GP60B no. 347, and rebuilt at MEI in East St. Louis with the cab from a UP SD40-2. From here, it would head to MAC for a fresh coat of orange. After a few years, it would be renumbered as the "BN 200," and eventually to the BNSF 200. Like the Beep or SF30B, the experiment may not have been repeated, but it lived on for a number of years post-rebuild.
I shot it in BNSF's Murray Yard in KCMO on July 29th, 2010.
