Slugging it Out

More razor blades...

BNSF/GN SD45-2B #6523 is among a handful of long-stored units in Topeka that were dragged out and into the yard. Supposedly, these are headed down to Memphis, via KC on Tuesday for eventual scrapping.

Interestingly, the 3957 was built in Feb. 1953 as the DL&W 970! Here's a Chuck Zeiler shot of it from 1965 in fresh EL paint: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1542976

The rest of the cut was as follows:

SD9-3 1552

SD45-2B 6520

SD45-2 6516

SD45-2 6484

SD45-2B 6523

SD45-2B 6522

SD40-2R (rebuilt SD45-2) 1566

6-axle Slug 3975

4-axle Slug 3957

On the right, the BNSF 2871 powers the daytime 101 Job (I think?), working the Topeka yard.
