1-Car Business Train?
Earlier this week, the BNSF sent out a two-car business train ( www.flickr.com/photos/47104480@N07/17254334462/ ) that eventually got tacked onto Amtrak's #4, but in efforts to not be outdone, today they managed to send one out that was even tinier!
I had heard of a U-TOPNEW that was leaving Topeka this afternoon, so I decided to head on down to see what I could find. Sure enough, the BNSF 5910 and two of its cohorts were leading the BNSF #82, the Kootenai River, making for one of the most overpowered passenger trains I can recall seeing. The Kootenai River is a 1912 ACF product that serves as one of their Test Cars, having previously been the BNA #7. I had to be at a rehearsal at 3, or I would have stuck around to get some more shots of it off to the south. Regardless, look for the car to come back to KC on Monday with the Boeing train, and then towards Nebraska, Washington and all intermediate stops.
