EastMarple1 says: This is now the main hallway in today's hotel. with reception on the left. The paintings that appear to be in the panels at first floor level are no longer there. They are just plain wood nowadays. When my friends were married there in 2012 all the guests assembled in the area where the soldiers are while the photographer took their pictures while looking down over the first floor balcony.

EastMarple1 says: I believe that this photograph and the one above are the same room, which was originally constructed as a bowling alley for Sir Mortimer Singer in 1914. On the left hand side is the rest of the house while the arched windows on the right overlook a sunken courtyard garden which still exists.
