xtra_xtra says: As usual, our Community Focus series has to feature the local T station, and this autumn-infused photo certainly grabbed our attention. The Newton suburbs claim a few stops on the T, including Newton Centre and Newton Highlands, so this picture demonstrates how local transportation ties the area together.

xtra_xtra says: We picked this picture because it features one of our favorite Newton spots--the xtra xtra office! We're located in this building right beside the Mass Pike, and that means we're at the heart of Newton itself.

xtra_xtra says: Newton Centre is a closely knit community in the Newton area, and we picked this picture because we love the colorful public art. Find this piece in one of the quiet parks in Newton Centre as you enjoy a coffee and take in the scenery.

xtra_xtra says: It's another T-focused picture, but we like this image because it demonstrates the mix between urban and suburban life. A short T ride proves just how close Newton is to Boston, but the background of this image reminds us that Newton is a community of homes and families in the city suburbs.

xtra_xtra says: The Charles River flows through Newton, and we love this picturesque photo of nature in Newton. The xtra xtra team actually went on a kayaking excursion on this very stretch of the river, and we can attest that Newton has some beautiful local scenery.

xtra_xtra says: Newton might be close to the city, but there is plenty of nature to be seen in the area. We picked this image because it illustrates a different side of this community.

xtra_xtra says: This image is just to remind us that Newton is still part of Boston, and that means it's still Red Sox country.

xtra_xtra says: Johnny's is a local favorite in Newton Centre, and it's very tough to get a table on busy Sunday mornings. Folks go for the milkshakes and sweet potato fries, but they stay because it's a Newton institution and a popular attraction for locals and students in the area.

xtra_xtra says: The Boston Marathon weaves through Newton, and this photo demonstrates how the community rallies around its own. Families and friends line the streets on Marathon Monday to cheer on the runners, creating a fantastic atmosphere in the community for this popular event.

xtra_xtra says: New England autumns are the stuff of legend, and this picture demonstrates why. Old architecture is a big draw in Newton, as the city was settled in 1630, and we liked how this picture balances beautiful foliage with classic structures in the Boston area.
