Thar coal project is in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), hundreds and thousands of people locally and internationally are involved in the development phase. I have privileged for being part of the project which not only brings prosperity for the people of tharparkar but also for the Country.
Following are the key activities which I did as a 'Field Engineer' for the project;
•Travelled more than 4,000 KMs, spent 500 hours on net and visited more than 25 organizations / departments and collected more than 100 reports, articles, maps, etc published on Tharparkar district as secondary material;
•Organized 20 consultation meetings and workshops in Karachi and different parts of Tharparkar district
•Consulted and recorded the views of more than 300 stakeholders, (which includes peasants, landlords, drivers, social workers, junior and senior bureaucrats, press reporters, local and national politicians, scientists, students, educationists) and incorporated those views in different reports
•Through these efforts one of my bosses also called me as, ‘unknown hero’ for the company
•In the beginning there was a proposal to conduct theatre play for project awareness raising, I drafted a script for that but the idea was dropped later on, then I wrote a script for a telefilm (a personal project) and for financing I sent that script to more than 25 different organizations, which includes block owners, media channels, newspaper owners, NGOs. Two of the NGOs responded me, out of which one promised to help technically but not financially, while the other didn’t like my concept and threatened to boycott the film if comes in production, also wrote short story in the context of tharparkar to take part in the short story competition (urdu language) and sent to Oxford University Press but that was not shortlisted.
